Educator Training

Every educator on our team is equipped with specialised training, enabling them to recognise when a student might require extra academic or emotional support. Once a need is spotted, we act swiftly to ensure the student receives the support they need for their emotional wellbeing and academic success.

Curriculum Adaptation

At IWA, we recognise that every individual is unique, and often, small adjustments can lead to significant improvements in students’ learning experiences. Our approach to adaptation is always thoughtful and informed: any curricular changes are considered only after a thorough analysis of each situation and professional assessments to determine what will best support the student’s growth and wellbeing.

Safe Learning Environment

At IWA, we enforce a strict No Bullying Policy at all times, this includes after hours and any online or cyber interactions. We do not tolerate bullying in any form, whether between students or involving teachers. Our commitment ensures everyone can learn and grow in a respectful environment, free from intimidation or harassment.

College Counseling

IWA is dedicated to preparing students who aspire to attend university by equipping them with the academic and emotional skills essential for their future success. We also provide extra-curricular comprehensive counselling services to help students confidently navigate the university application process, including course selection, interview preparation, and preparing for standardized tests, such as the SAT, ACT, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions For Academic Advising

Do all my classes have to be taken at IWA?

To receive a high school diploma from IWA, the student must be a full-schedule student and complete all required coursework through IWA. However, you may choose to take individual courses at IWA without being a full-time student, but please note that IWA will not accredit or issue a diploma for these students.

What are the IWA graduation requirements?

To earn an IWA high school diploma, students must complete all core subject classes as part of their coursework from the time they enrol at IWA. For students transferring from another high school, graduation requirements are assessed individually to determine what additional coursework may be necessary to comply with the Arizona Board of Education.

Frequently Asked Questions for Curriculum Adaptation

When is a student eligible to request a curriculum adaptation at IWA?

Any student who has been evaluated by a qualified professional and is found to have the cognitive capacity to comprehend the required coursework, but requires curriculum adaptations, is supported at IWA. We are committed to ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed academically. Our team works closely with both the student and their family to implement appropriate adaptations, making sure that individual needs are met while maintaining high educational standards.

What is the process for a student to request and receive curriculum adaptations at IWA?

At IWA, every student is individually supported throughout the curriculum adaptation process. The first step involves a meeting with the principal and the parents/guardians to review any existing documentation and identify if further documentation is required. Once all necessary documents are provided and reviewed, a follow-up meeting is scheduled with our in-house psychologist. During this process, we also ensure that parents are clearly informed of any costs involved should they choose to engage our in-house specialised psychologists or therapists.

Are in-house psychologists or therapists available at IWA to support students needing curriculum adaptations and to work closely with them over the course of the school year?

Yes, IWA has an experienced in-house psychologist who can be involved solely in adapting the curriculum to suit the individual needs of students. Alternatively, the psychologist may also provide ongoing support and guidance to the student throughout the school year, depending on what the parents and student requires.

Would IWA be open to collaborating with external psychologists or therapists to provide additional support for a student requiring curriculum adaptations?

Yes, we are committed to working collaboratively with any psychologist or therapist with whom a student is already engaged, ensuring the best possible support and outcomes for each student.

Frequently Asked Questions for College Counseling

Does IWA provide College Counseling for the students?

Yes, IWA provides two complimentary seminars each year offering a basic overview of the essential requirements for students wishing to attend college. These seminars are free of charge, and open to both parents and students in Years 10 to 12. Additionally, we have an experienced in-house college counsellor who works one-on-one with families throughout the college admission process. Please note that individual college counselling is not included in our standard tuition; however, we strive to keep these services affordable, as we are committed to supporting every student in reaching their academic goals.

How does IWA ensure that its students are well-prepared for college academically and personally?

Our full-schedule students follow a comprehensive college prep curriculum designed to equip them with the academic skills and knowledge necessary for success in higher education, with particular emphasis on readiness for STEM careers. This rigorous curriculum ensures that all students are well-prepared for college-level coursework and the challenges of competitive university programs. In addition to academics, we also prioritize personal development, helping students build confidence, resilience, and strong communication skills that support their personal growth and well-being during and beyond their college experience.
